Meet the team
Christine Gilkes
I’m insistent about improving performance and that requires me to challenge my thinking and others to achieve that aim. My curious nature is fascinated by the question about how to uncover what drives a culture and what we can do make it more inclusive.
My expertise
With a corporate life in my toolkit, more than two decades working as an independent consultant to a vast array of organisations and a drive for learning I’ve picked up extensive skills and knowledge and had some pretty amazing experiences. My boundless energy and optimism are often contagious!
My Style
I’m a facilitator at heart and love to explore options with my clients. But don’t be fooled, as I am also a hard task master and establishing your purpose and goal achievement are critically important to me, as is delivering and getting a return on your investment.
Why gender balance is important to me
As I said my drive is to improve performance and when organisations achieve a better gender balance that is exactly what happens. Not only does it improve the bottom line but relationships, attrition, complaints and much more. Different genders think and process differently and when you harness those differences you get startling results.
A life changing moment
Leaving behind my corporate life to work with such brilliantly diverse businesses and people – It has been a real eye opener!
Karen Milner
I very much like to identify an organisation’s success measures and then work out what they can put in place to help them improve. Clients say that I really understand what makes them tick and having that external perspective is really important.
My expertise
While it is my career in HR that led me to this point, I grew into HR through an operational role and these roots in the operations of businesses drive the way that I work. My career as a consultant has taken me into a vast array of organisations from manufacturing to healthcare, giving me insight into the challenges faced by different sectors, and the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life.
My Style
I am curious about organisations and how they work, I ask a lot of questions and reflect on the best approach to working with clients, and ultimately the best solutions to drive organisations forward. I am practical and pride myself on tailored and applied next steps.
Why gender balance is important to me
For me, it’s all about organisations making the most of what they have to deliver results. We all know that better gender balance delivers better outcomes for business, so why not invest in putting the right culture, structure and opportunities in place that allow both males and females to progress and achieve.
A life changing moment
I became HR Director on a gender-balanced board; how lucky was I to get this experience? Out in the big wide world I can see that’s not the norm, but it should be! Everyone should get the level of support and development that I had and I am passionate about helping other organisations get this in place.
